Blogmas Day 20: Beat the Backlist 2018 Challenge

Beat the Backlist Challenge

Info
This challenge is open to everyone! You don’t need to be a book blogger but we encourage you to create a list of the books you plan to read OR set a goal of how many you want to read whether it’s a post somewhere or a Goodreads shelf, or whatever system works for you.
Don’t worry about your TBR intro list being your final list! It’s just a starting point so you have some titles to cross off! This challenge is all about what YOU accomplish so change your books whenever you feel like it! Not sure what you want to read yet? Set a goal for how many books you want to read!
You can sign up for it here.

My Goals

Even though I am excited about a lot of books that will be coming out in 2018, I also really want to get through my backlist books because there are a lot of amazing books out there that I haven't read yet. I am doing #0by19 as well so that will also be apart of my backlist books TBR, and I really want to get through a lot of the old ARCs that I have gotten through Netgalley read now (I'm going to keep myself from using this until I get through them).

  • I want to read 50 books I have more than this but I also want to be realistic.
  • 24 of them from Netgalley
  • 26 from #0by19

I am on team Book Bards!

Blogmas Day 17: 0by18 Success or Failure? Plus an announcement!

Last year during blogmas I decided to create #0by18 and Valerie from HESAIDBOOKSORME wanted to do it with me. It started off really good, but as the year went on I kind of forgot to update it and to ask how people were doing with it. For that, I would like to apologize to anyone who was taking part in it with us. If you were successful with or even read just one book off of your shelves please let us know!

ARC August Wrap-Up : 2016 Reading Challenge #arcagust

I can't believe Arc August is already over!

I feel like this past month has gone by way to fast sadly. I was able to get through 10 books this month! Sadly though only 5 of those were on my original to be read (I'm surprised I stuck to it for that many.) I'm pretty proud of myself for having read that many because the Olympics happened as well as me just trying to enjoy the few weeks of summer that I had. Now without further ado lets see how I did week by week!

Weekly Updates

Week One
1st - 7th

Smash & Grab by Amy Christine Parker
Teenagers forced to do heists plus rich kids trying to get there families money back. Read my full review here

The Assassin Game by Kirsty Mckay

Week Two
8th - 14th

The Sugar Men by Ray Kingfisher
A heartbreaking holocaust survival story. Read my full review here

You Before Anyone Else by Julie Cross
This story didn't go where I thought it would, but I was still happy with what happened. Read my full review here

Week Three
15th - 21st

The Tokyo Cover Girls by Jackie Amsden
Modeling in a foreign country can be scary especially when someones trying to kill you. Full review to come September 12th as part of a blog tour with Express Book Tours! Goodreads mini review

Week Four
22nd - 28th
The Summer Before Forever by Melissa Chambers
Such a quick read that dealt with some difficult things. Read full review here

OxBlood by AnnaLisa Grant
Loved it and I need the next book now. Goodreads mini review (full review to be posted on September 19th)

Week Five
29th - 31st

A Forest Of Wolves by Chelsea Luna
This books starts right where the first one ended. We get to see the rebellion from inside and how it works and what the people are really up against. All while Mila hides a secret that could get her killed. Goodreads mini review (full review coming September 14th)

A Fine Imitation by Amber Brock
This book is very slow at the beginning but the last chapter was my favorite as well as the epilogue. Without them this would have just been a 2 star book for me with how slow going the rest of the story was.  Goodreads mini review (full review coming soon)

Of Better Blood by Susan Moger
This book is told in three different parts each telling a different thing that happened to our main character during one summer. While we also get to see things from her past as well and how they have changed her into the person she is now. Goodreads mini review (full review coming soon)

How did you end up doing this month?

I hope to continue with this trend of reading more ARC's so I can get my pile down to a more manageable amount before the end of the year. So I can start 2017 fresh and with lots of posts scheduled.

#VASRP Challenge 6!

Challenge 6

I've been doing awful at these challenges so far, but I am hoping to do better at this from now on. This weeks challenge is to check in and say how many books you've read so far.
Somehow I have been able to read 14 books so far for this challenge. I've not read as many summery books as I was hoping to, but I have learned that some contemporary's just aren't for me and that's okay. I do have a few more summer books that I didn't get to in July that I'm hoping to read this month, as well as doing ARC August. I have gotten a bit behind on writing and posting reviews, but I'm hoping to catch up on that this month as well as getting a lot of reading done before the 22nd when college starts back up for me.

Books Read

  1. Boyfriends, Burritos & An Ocean Of Trouble by Nancy Rue
  2.  Twisted by Hannah Jayne
  3.  Defending Taylor by Miranda Kenneally
  4.  Killer In Me by Margot Harrison
  5.  Nice Girls Endure by Chris Styuk-Bonn
  6.  Highly Illogical Behavior by John Corey Whaley
  7.  Goddess Games by Niki Burnham
  8. The Girl I Used To Be by April Henry
  9.  A Court Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Mass
  10.  Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
  11.  Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
  12.  November 9 by Colleen Hoover
  13.  The Flip Side by Shawn Johnson
  14.  The Winners Curse by Marie Rutkoski

I believe I am at the Fishing Jig level of this challenge at the moment. I still hope to get to Book Worm level, but if I don't that's okay to.
How have you done so far on this challenge?

#VASRP Challenge 1

It's already time for the first challenge of the virtual adult summer reading program!

Who you are and do you have a blog/if so, what is your blog?

My name is Erin and I blog here at readingwithwrin. I blog about books and lifestyle posts that mainly end up being about dairy free foods.
*What are the reading goals you are setting for the summer?

I would like to read some nice contemporary summery books for a change.
*Did you participate in a summer program as a child? What made it memorable for you?

Yes every year. It was memorable for me because I would always try to read as many books as possible in order to try and win my library's big prize!
*What is something interesting about yourself?

I'm really not an interesting person. But one thing that I think is pretty interesting is that I can enjoy almost all genres of books anymore. From chic lit to science fiction and mystery I've really loved them all this year!

That's a little bit about me. I hope to get to know some of you tonight during the chat. 😃

#ARCApril Week 3 Update : April 16th - 22nd

How has it been 3 weeks? I feel like April is going by really fast, which isn't a good thing when it comes to my ARC Reading.
For the last week of this month all I will be reading is ARC's I've decided. I have been reading non-arcs as well in order to get my tbr pile down. But it's time to fully focus in and read these last 7 books to reach my 16 book goal. First let's see how I did last week.

#ARCApril Week 2 Update : April 9th - 15th

How is it already the middle of April? I'm really going to have to step up my reading in order to reach my goal of 16+ books. I did read two ARC's this past week! Let's see how I did during the second week of ARC April.

New Year! New Blog!

Happy New Year! As you can probably tell from the title of this post I have some news. It's exciting news for Reading With Wrin ....
