Goodreads Summary:
For eighteen year old Gia Winters, having a movie star for a father, a former Playboy bunny as a mother, a Hollywood mansion, and a closet stocked with Chanel is simply another day in the life.

But her world is turned upside down when her father mysteriously hires a group of bodyguards to trail the family 24/7 and threatening phone calls from a "Dr. D" start buzzing daily.

When Gia scores the coveted role of Miss Golden Globe, she is forced to strike a deal with her bodyguard, Jack, who is almost as arrogant as he is attractive. Juggling Gia's romantic failures, fashion faux pas, and celebrity obsessions, the duo investigate a series of clues with the help of a police cadet, who has a special set of skills and an even better set of dimples.

But with the Golden Globes just around the corner, danger levels rise higher than her stilettos as Gia learns that the biggest secrets might be the ones buried in her own home.

In a place where the hills have eyes, high school nemeses, bad hair days, raging parties, and stolen kisses, there can only be trouble for a girl who was just starting to consider herself lucky.

 My Review:
“I’ll be the first to admit, I am quite possibly the last person anyone would ever choose to go on a secret mission with. I mean, if by some miracle I managed to get into the CIA, I’d just be that one person who can’t be trusted with guns or top-secret weapons. Hell, I’d barely be trusted with a stapler. But due to the evident lack of James Bond-ish men in my life to take my place, I was forced to pursue Dr. D’s phone call alone. Well, not entirely alone, I had Jack and Milo after all. “

Gia’s father announces one afternoon that they are all getting bodyguards. Her and her brother are confused and don’t understand why they are need, nor will their father tell them why. Instead they each get assigned a bodyguard who will be with them almost all the time, including going to school with them (yes the bodyguards were thrilled about having to go back to school). But one day Gia receives a text from an unknown number, and then starts getting calls from someone she names Dr. D who tries to scare/torments her. As she get the police involved and starts doing investigating of her own things start to get dangerous. Things don’t start getting worrying though when no one seems to have any idea who it could be, why the person is doing it, and what is so important about a certain date that he keeps mentioning. Sadly Gia didn’t have much free time to investigate more because she was busy practicing to be Miss Golden Globe, and still trying to do her school work. All while her love life is crazy. She has a crush on her bodyguard, but then someone else comes into the picture and she likes him even more. This causes even more drama in her life especially because these two guys don’t really seem to care for each other or get along much at all.
Everything comes together though on one important night, and we find out who it is, and why they did it.
Overall I loved this book. Gia was hilarious and acted pretty normal despite having celebrity parents and living in Hollywood. Most of the time she didn’t act snobbish except to one mean girl character who was extremely unlikable.
I loved Jack and Gia’s friendship after Gia stopped being so awkward around him (even though it was pretty funny to read). They made a pretty good team. Besides the fact that Jack kept all of his life private and we don’t learn things about him to the end of the book, but that was understandable as he was her bodyguard.

If you want a fun, hilarious mystery book then please consider reading this one.   I can’t wait to see what Kapur writes next.

I received and e-arc of this book from Netgalley and AmberJack Publishing in exchange for my honest review. Thank You.
